Brazilian Blowout has long been known for its ability to smooth, soften, and tame frizz with dramatic, long-lasting results. However, the original formula included trace amounts of formaldehyde—a preservative that raised safety concerns for both clients and stylists.
The new formula is 100% free of formaldehyde and other aldehydes, making it a healthier choice for everyone in the salon environment.
What’s Different – The Pros and the Considerations
While the updated formula brings many benefits, there are a few key changes to keep in mind:
✅ Healthier & Cleaner This version eliminates harsh fumes and reduces irritation during the service, making it a more comfortable experience in the chair.
✅ Gentle on the Hair It’s safer for chemically treated, fine, or fragile hair types that may not have tolerated the original formula.
⚠️ May Fade Color We want to be transparent: the new formula can cause some color fading, especially in vivid, fashion, or freshly colored hair. We recommend scheduling your smoothing treatment before your color service—or discussing a color-refresh plan with your stylist.
⚠️ Lingering Odor in the Shower Some clients have reported a mild odor that can be noticeable when shampooing for the first few washes after the treatment. While this is temporary and not harmful, it’s something to be aware of.
